Wednesdays with Britt Nicole: No worries. Here to reach, love people (Part 3 in a series)

NASHVILLE (WordNews.org) Nov. 9, 2011 – Britt Nicole says she’s been given a lot of freedom as a Christian recording artist.
“I’ve been very blessed to be able to work with people that I love and that really support me and support my heart, what I feel called to do and really give me a lot of space creatively to be myself and not feel like I’m in a box and that I’ve got to do specific things.”
But she says she knows that’s not the case for everyone.
“A lot of artists don’t have that experience. A lot of artists have worked with people that make them feel like they’re not in control of anything that they’re doing,” Britt says.
That goes against the creative nature of music artists.
“Whenever you have a ministry, when you are an artist, you are creative and you need people that really get your vision and they can come alongside and help make that happen,” she says.
Where’s the state of Contemporary Christian Music?
“I think a lot of people get scared with where music is, sales are dropping and not as many people come out to tours that used to come out, things like that,” Britt says.
But it doesn’t make her worried.
“I have to say I don’t get shaken by those things. I just really feel God is the same God yesterday as He is today and He knows the state of where music is and He’s going to get the music out to the people that need to hear it and He’s going to take care of me even if records aren’t selling or whatever,” Britt says. “He’s in control.”
Britt’s got three albums out if you count “Acoustic EP.” [“Say It” and “Lost Get Found” are the other two].
And Britt is currently on tour with Brandon Heath. They’re in Augusta, Ga. on Nov. 12.
She says she doesn’t keep close tabs on how her records and concerts are doing.
“I have to have people on the business side who are looking at those things and are going, ‘OK, where are we? What do we need to do?’ But I feel for me—not to be ignorant of those things but I kind of don’t pay much attention to them. I just go, ‘I’m here to minister. I’m here to reach people.’ And that’s never going to change.”
And it doesn’t matter what size crowd shows up.
“If 10 people come out to a show or 1,000 or 20,000, it’s no difference to me,” she said. “I’m here to reach people and to love people and to let God use me and that’s not going to change based on where the industry is.”
