Patrick Morley: Finding the right ‘go-to’ guys (Part 5)

CASSELBERRY, Fla. (WordNews.org) Jan. 22, 2012 – By next month, Patrick Morley is hoping to have 40 men fully committed to act as area directors helping 1,000 churches in discipling men.
Morley told WordNews.org that each man will have a budget for ministry needs and salary and each man will be responsible to raise the funds to meet that budget.
“We do have a financial angel who is helping us with all of this,” he said.
Asked how much this angel is providing to back the effort, Morley said simply, “millions.”
“We have the commitments to get started and so we have for example a donor who has committed for the first 100 area directors to sponsor and pay for a kickoff luncheon in that community,” Morley said.
Some communities may have one area director, he noted, depending on the number of churches in a region.
“We could be talking about a city like Houston, where you might have several area directors, or the state of Montana, where there might only be one.”
The kickoff luncheon will include invitations to all the pastors in the region.
Even if just 10 percent of the pastor come, Morley said, the idea will still be publicized in the area.
The idea of the kickoff luncheon, he said, is “to help the area director make a big splash and become well known in the community that you now have a go-to guy for men’s discipleship in the city.”
More said this is just one of hundreds of ideas it will utilize to get the word out.
“As the military axiom goes, ‘No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy,’” Morley said. “Crawl, walk, run. That’s our strategy.”
Morley said Man in the Mirror http://www.mimareadirectors.org/ has hired Christian recruiting firm to offer a “Fortune 500-style, ministry style” approach to finding the right candidates.
“The near-term goal is to have 40 people in place by February when we have our annual leadership meeting here in Orlando,” Morley said. “We have enough momentum to reach that near-term goal. And then we’re really trying to make sure we get the exact, right people that God wants. We’re not looking for perfect guys but we are looking for guys that we really, honestly believe can be effective and resonate with the local community.”
