Video highlights persecution of religious minorities

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (WordNews.org) May 1, 2012 – Majed El Shafie, who once living under a death sentence for converting to Christianity while living in Egypt, is now working to highlight the lives of other persecuted Christians worldwide.

Shafie, who escaped to Israel and now lives in Canada, is the subject of a just-released documentary, “Freedom Fighter” by Destiny Image Films. Shafie founded One Free World International, a human rights organization that focuses on the rights of religious minorities internationally.

“Freedom Fighter” chronicles Shafie’s trip to Pakistan, where he working with the family of Neha, a 2-year-old girl who was raped and nearly killed because her family refused to convert to Islam. Shafie has worked to get the family out of Pakistan, where they have lived in hiding for three years.

Brian Mayes of Nashville Publicity Group, wants to get Shafie’s and Neha’s story out.

“Today we are lauching a social media campaign to raise awareness for the victims of religious persecution around the world,” he said to supporters. “Like the very successful #Kony2012 campaign a few months back, we are hoping to take Neha’s story viral for the purpose of raising awareness of the human rights abuses of so many that are suffering because of their religious beliefs.”
