A conversation with Pure Flix’s David A.R.White: Bringing on Bosworth (Part 1)

bosworthLOS ANGELES (WordNews.org) March 12, 2013 – There’s a familiar name in Pure Flix Entertainment’s latest film, “Revelation Road,” out today at retail outlets such as Target and Walmart.
Brian Bosworth, nicknamed “The Boz” during his days trash-talking days with the Seattle Seahawk, stars as Hawg, the leader of an end-times motorcycle game.
“He was like the bad boy of the whole NFL, said  David A.R. White, a co-founder of Pure Flix, who stars alongside Bosworth as Josh McManus, a salesman who stops a robbery in progress.
White tells WordNews.org in an exclusive interview how Bosworth joined the cast.
White said all he knew in advance about Bosworth was  that “he had anger issues.”
“Obviously we pray about our cast and we try to find who is supposed to be in these things,” White said. “And the Lord always seems to work it out.”
He said in preparation for Revelation Road, he and others at Pure Flix scanned lists of available actors, especially those with name recognition.
“For whatever reason, his name came up,” White said.
So Pure Flix conducted some research, finding that Bosworth had refused to grant interviews—to anybody.
“He had a big house, he went through a divorce and he was like … angry,” White said. “That’s all we could get—this man is angry. And yet we felt maybe he would be perfect for this movie.”
So, Bosworth was extended an invitation to join the cast at Revelation Road.
And he responded.
“He said that this script was perfect for where he was at in his life,” White recounted. “It was the worst time in his life because he was on his way to getting married again, quite literally.  He literally got married the day after the shooting finished. So it was bad timing.”
Plus, Bosworth wasn’t interested in doing any more films, planning instead to move to Texas and work in the oil industry.
“But we got him,” White said.
Turns out, Bosworth handles a motorcycle well.

White said over Pure Flix’s seven-year history, it has taken some risks with some of its cast members.
“We’ve worked with a lot of people who have been in jail and [were involved in] spousal abuse and drug addicts along the way—checkered pasts. And you never know what you’re going to get. They can walk off your set. They can do a lot of damage. But we took a risk.”
It paid off.
“We really felt he was the guy and we find out he was actually the nicest guy on the show,” White. “And he felt this was exactly where he was supposed to be.”

There’s more to the story. Check in tomorrow to read the next installment of “A conversation with David A.R. White”
