NASHVILLE (WordNews.org) Oct. 26, 2011 — This may surprise you, but when Christian music artist Britt Nicole moved from Salisbury, N.C., and arrived in Nashville, her desire was to sing worship songs.
“I love worship music,” she tells WordNews.org, “and when I moved to Nashville, I was actually trying to write worship songs. I was like, ‘OK, this is the type of music I love and this is the kind of record I want to make.’”
But something happened each time she tried to pen a worship song.
“Every time I would try writing a worship song, I would end up writing a pop song or a story or something I’ve walked through—never a straight worship song,” says Britt, sounding a bit mock exasperated.
She’s known for catchy tunes such as “Headphones” and “Like a Star” from her debut album, “Say It,” released in 2007 and “The Lost Get Found,” from her latest album with the same name.
“But I love worship music.”
So, whom does she listen to. There’s a long list that includes:
“He put out a record, it’s been years ago, it was called ‘Faith.’ It’s one of my favorite records. It’s a really, really intimate worship kind of experience. Every time I put it on I feel the presence of God.”
Nicole also loves worship coming out of Bethel Church.
And Kari Jobe, who recently signed with EMI.
“Anything that is worship I love,” Nicole says, “and of course I love pop music as well. But man, my heart – if I could choose anything to listen to it would be worship.”
