(WordNew.org) Nov. 1, 2011 — The International Day of Prayer will actually be held on two days this year.
Sunday, Nov. 13 is the official day designated the International Day of Prayer. However, the day will be celebrated on Nov. 6 in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The day was first organized in 1996 by the World Evangelical Fellowship. It is now one of the largest worldwide prayer events in existence today, with thousands of churches, ministries and families participating, spending time in intercessory prayer for the millions of Christians around the world who are persecuted, oppressed, and even martyred for their faith each year. Organizers say persecuted Christians always put intercessory prayer at the top of their list of needs.
