NASHVILLE (WordNews.org) Feb. 15, 2012 –
Worry and anxiety top the list of Americans’ favorite sins, according to new research by the Barna Group.
Sixty percent of Americans admit they fall prey to too much worrying; another 60 percent procrastinate; and 55 percent say they’re overwhelmed by the desire to overeat.
The results are contained in “Our Favorite Sins: The Sins We Commit and How You Can Quit,” a book by Anglican Bishop Todd Hunter.
The book is based n Barna Research surveys.
Other findings include:
44 percent overuse technology and social media
41 percent succumb to laziness
Other sins that Americans struggle with include lust, lying, cheating and anger. And when facing any of those temptations, according to surveys, 59 percent did nothing to resist.
“We can win if we understand the root of the problem, and what Christians have done from the beginning to beat them,” Hunter said. “Despite our failures and shameful ‘moments after,’ there really is a way out, a way forward … a way that draws us closer to the life that God desires for us.”
