GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WordNews.org) April 2, 2012 – The pro-creation Christian film “The Genesis Code” starring Fred Thompson is now out on DVD.

“The Genesis Code,” an independent faith-based film from American Epic Entertainment, explores the intersection of science and faith in regard to the origin of the universe. The movie’s DVD release has been widely anticipated since the film premiered at the Grand Rapids Film Festival two years ago.

The film follows the developing relationship between two college students: Kerry Wells, an aspiring journalist and earnest Christian, and Blake Truman, the school’s hockey star and skeptical unbeliever. The students’ divine encounter leads them to conflict about basic Christian worldview principles, such as Creationism.

The film urges Christians to renew their faith in God, become more engaged in publicly defending the Biblical explanation of creation and speak up against the cultural trend to silence Christians.

The supporting cast includes Oscar-winners Louise Fletcher and Ernest Borgnine. Former presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Fred Thompson, co-stars in the film. Thompson, who is also known for his role on the television series Law & Order, said the storyline is “thought-provoking.”

“The foundations of conservative family values are being attacked on all fronts,” said the Rev. Jerry Zandstra, the film’s executive producer. “Our hope would be that after viewing the film, families, teachers, pastors and students alike would find their voice to confront the forces that work to silence conservatives in areas like science, creation and life issues.”
