WASHINGTON, D.C. (WordNews.org) Oct. 24, 2012 – The head of a ministry to former homosexuals and their friends and families is asking the Obama administration to stop linking to pro-gay websites that denigrate ministries like hers.

Regina Griggs, executive director of Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX), said in a letter to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that its resource page on lesbian, gay, bisexual an transgender health for youth does not include links for youth with unwanted same sex attractions or for parents who do not affirm homosexual behavior.

The CDC links include:
* gsanetwork.org — “Empowering youth activists to fight homophobia and transphobia in schools.”

* gsanetwork.org/what-we-do/transforming-schools — “GSA Network’s 5 campaigns to Change Your School empower youth activists to create changes that will transform schools for generations to come.”

The CDC gave away over $100,000 in taxpayer money to fund this homosexual/transvestite “youth activist” program, PFOX’s Griggs said.

“How do these links ‘meet scientific standards supported by published, evidence-based studies,’ as the CDC claims?” Griggs asked. “The CDC’s link to Trevor Space: News and Networking describes itself as ‘a social networking site for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth ages 13 through 24.’ What is scientific about this?”

Griggs is also concerned about websites that attack ministries like PFOX.

“The federal government website also contains links to anti-ex-gay organizations, such as PFLAG, which openly denigrates former homosexuals, and the anti-ex-gay publication Just the Facts, which advocates against Christian ex-gay ministries and only lists religious organizations that affirm homosexual behavior.”

“Why is the federal government spreading intolerance against the ex-gay community and Christians who support the religious testimony of former homosexuals?” asked Griggs.

PFOX has requested that CDC Director Thomas Frieden adopt the standards utilized by the Office of Adolescent Health, Department of Health and Human Services, and provide website links that are factually oriented, relevant to adolescent health, non-partisan, free from bias and prejudice, and do not take an advocacy position.

“The CDC’s current list of links does not provide complete factual information to youth and parents, and sends the wrong message that unpopular sexual minorities like former homosexuals are not entitled to safety or respect,” Griggs said. “The CDC is engaging in sexual orientation bias against disfavored groups. As concerned parents, we ask President Obama, who appointed Thomas Frieden, and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, to intervene.”
