CHARLESTON, S.C. (WordNews.org) Jan. 24, 2013 — Water Missions International has launched the Educators’ Think Tank to develop curriculum focused on educating students on the global water crisis.
The Think Tank is made up of 10 current and former educators, administrators and staff from across the country that have experience in in teaching and best practices for integrating new curriculum.
The Think Tank has been meeting for the past year to develop a plan, now called Lessons in a Bucket, that is focused on teaching children from kindergarten through sixth grade about the importance of safe water worldwide. The curriculum uses innovative teaching methods to teach students about the global need for safe water, the science behind delivering safe water to a community, the importance of water conservation and other topics.
“Educating students about the reality of the global water crisis and showing them actionable steps to be a part of the solution is the main priority of Lessons in a Bucket,” said Educators’ Think Tank founder Jane Talbot. “We, as educators, can start a conversation that has the potential to change the course of history. Lessons in a Bucketis the springboard for those conversations.”
Lessons in a Bucket is already being incorporated into the curriculum of 29 Charleston, S.C.-area schools
