DES MOINES, Iowa (WordNews.org) July 5, 2013 — Bettie Wade, who recently took second place in the heptathlon at the USA Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, recently.

After taking fourth place at the 2012 Olympic Trials, Wade is happy to qualify for the upcoming World Championships in Moscow.

Wade, who is originally from Northfield, Michigan, and now resides in Manhattan, Kansas, is an assistant coach at Kansas State University and  trains in a post- collegiate program there.

“The most important thing to me is my Christian faith,” she said. “I want people to realize that inviting Christ in my life is the best thing I ever did.”

Wade became a Christian during her junior year in high school after being invited to a Christmas play by her neighbor. Before this, she did not realize she could have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It was a brand new concept, she said, wanting Jesus in her life.

Her favorite Scriptures are Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go”; and Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
