ALASKA (WordNews.org) July 3, 2020 — Samaritan’s Purse said in an email to supporters that this weekend military couples will begin arriving at Samaritan Lodge Alaska to start the 2020 Operation Heal Our Patriots season, the ministry’s ninth summer ministering to injured veterans and their spouses.
Samaritan’s Purse said during the next 10 weeks “dozens of couples whose marriages have been strained by difficult deployments and the wounds of war will join us for a week of Biblically based marriage enrichment led by retired military chaplains.”
The couples also participate in outdoor activities to connect with each other in the beautiful Alaskan wilderness.
Samaritan‘s Purse has supported more than 1,100 military couples through this project since 2012.
“We praise God for the many individuals who have come to faith in Christ and for marriages that have been rejuvenated—some even rescued from the brink of divorce,” the ministry said to supporters.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the program is starting a little later than past years and special precautions are being taken to help protect the health of the couples and the ministry’s staff.
The ministry is seeking prayer during the 2020 season. To hear stories about the lifelong impact of Operation Heal Our Patriots, listen to the latest episode of Samaritan’s Purse’s podcast.
