VENTURA, Calif. (WordNews.org) Feb. 10, 2021 — A new survey conducted by Barna Group, a Christian pollster, finds 60 percent of teens and young adults — Gen Z — feel their generation spends too much time on screens.

Asked about their own person screen time use, 53 percent of those between the ages 13 to 21 years, say they feel bad about their own screen time, the survey found.

However, a quarter of those surveyed feel they and their peers spend an appropriate amount of time on screens and 13 percent said the amount of time in front of screen doesn’t matter.

The survey also found 53 percent admit to putting off homework or other responsibilities because of technology. Half said they feel distracted, 54 percent said they waste a lot ofttimes and 30 percent say they have a short attention span.

“Has staring into our phones replaced staring out the window—have we swapped daydreaming for scrolling?” asked Amy Crouch, author of the book “My Tech-Wise Life.” “The data certainly indicates that, when it comes time to ‘zone out,’ respondents are opting for screen time.”
