CONCORD, N.H. (WordNews.org) Jan. 19, 2012 — The New Hampshire House of Representatives passed a bill 207 to 147 that shifts state taxpayer funds away from abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood.
Instead, under the measure, funds would go to public and private entities that provide comprehensive health care to women and that do not provide abortions.
The bill’s language was developed in part by the Alliance Defense Fund and the Susan B. Anthony List. It now heads to the state Senate.
“This is a great victory in what has become a nationwide battle to stop taxpayer funding of abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B Anthony List.
This pro-life victory in New Hampshire preempts the announcement of the SBA List’s national campaign to “Expose & Defund Planned Parenthood,” which will be made public on Jan. 23 during Dannenfelser’s “State of the Unborn” address, made on the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion.
