Roberts crusades began in 1947 and went into the 1960s.

“When he prayed for people he had standing-room only,” his daughter said.

Word spread as people were healed at his services.

“Those people believed in the ministry of Oral Roberts. They believed in God’s healing power. Those people gave to his ministry, and then to Oral Roberts University, many of them, until they died,” Potts said.

Roberts referred to these supports as partners.

“Most of those people didn’t care a fig about education,” Potts said. “But they believed in the healing ministry of Oral Roberts. And when Dad spoke of taking God’s healing power to his generation with a Christian university, a Christian charismatic university, they saw his vision.”

Roberts vision was to create a bridge from the church to the world.

Potts said those that gave to her father’s ministry validates that God did in fact heal people through the ministry.

“Why would you do that [give] if it was all fake?” Potts asked. She recalled being with her father as he prayed for the sick.

“I was there. I saw it,” she said. “But I didn’t put it together – the bridge – until I saw down and stared writing the book.”
