Patrick Morley: Looking for a few (hundred) good men (Part 1)

CASSELBERRY, Fla. (WordNews.org) Jan. 18, 2012 — Patrick Morley, the bestselling author of the book “Man in the Mirror” is leading an effort to improve the discipleship of men across the country.
A national casting call has been launched at www.mimareadirectors.org. It is a collaboration with Young Life, Campus Crusade for Christ, Compass—Finances God’s Way, and the Navigators. The purpose: to recruit candidates throughout the country with a passion for discipling throughout the United States.
The goal is lofty: to disciple 1 million men by 2015; 10 million men by the end of 2020.
To that end, Morley’s group is looking to hire 330 men who will be responsible for 1,000 churches each.
“For several years, we’ve been working hard to offer a viable career path in men’s ministry,” Morley said. “This is our attempt at putting boots on the ground to consult, train and equip churches to be more effective in discipling their guys.”
The hope is that during this economic downturn, the opportunity will appeal to a wide range of professionals who are “surrendered to Christ, love the church, are passionate about reaching men with the Gospel, and have a deep commitment to discipling.”
The groups behind the effort have an “angel” investor who will help back the launch the effort but each area director will eventually be raising their own funds.
“I’m so thankful that 40 years ago, a few men in my church saw a young man who desperately needed to be discipled, and they took action. Every man deserves an opportunity to learn how to become the man God created him to be,” Morley said.
Morley spoke with WordNews.org about this initiative. Come back tomorrow for the second installation.
