Patrick Morley: God’s presence, power ‘so palpable’ (Part 10 of 10)

By   /   January 27, 2012  /   No Comments

CASSELBERRY, Fla. (WordNews.org) Jan. 27, 2012– For five years, Patrick Morley and a group of other men have been planning a major initiative to hire 330 men to help disciple men in 330,000 churches across America.
“It’s been like slogging through mud in many ways these last five years,” says Morley, the best-selling author of the “Man in the Mirror” series and CEO of the Man in the Mirror ministry.
When Morley decided it was time to “pull the trigger” and move forward, David Delk, president of Man in the Mirror, said: “No, I think we should take three weeks and just pray,” Morley recounts. “Of course, I immediately felt a half an inch tall.”
“During those three weeks, everything became so clear and so full of faith,” Morley says.
On a road trip with those involved in launching the ministry, Morley was asked how he felt about moving forward with the initiative.
“To tell you the truth,” Morley responded. I’m completely at peace. If this works, great. I don’t feel any pressure to make this work.”
One by one, those in the vehicle said the same thing.
Morley, who once built one of Florida’s 100 largest privately held companies, said he is not being “salesy” about building the ministry.
He’s simply telling the story.
“Here’s the interesting thing: Every single person that we’ve asked if they would like to help, every single person—this is 100 percent—has said yes. I’ve never seen anything like it in 25 years. It makes me fear God is what it does.”
Why?
“It makes me fear God because His presence and power are so palpable. That doesn’t mean it’s going to stay that way,” Morley says, “but that’s the way it’s been. And so we give glory and praise to God for what He’s doing. We’re not presuming any particular outcomes. We’re just trying to be faithful to what we feel God’s calling us to do. And I think we all  are of the same mind: What we’re trying to do is too enormous. It’s beyond the capacity to be able to accomplish. So frankly, if God doesn’t make it happen, it’s not going to happen anyway so why fret.”
