BRANSON, Mo. (WordNews.org) April 7,2012 – The story of the sinking of the RMS Titanic continues to resurface.
Most recently, the 1997 film  Titanic was released in 3-D format. And the United Nations recently announced its cultural agency UNESCO just announced that it will be prevent any “unauthorized lifts or unethical exploration” from the vessel.

However, Vision Forum Ministries and the Christian Boy’s and Men’s Titanic Society would like people to reflect on the events of April 15, 1912—the night 1,517 passengers on Titanic’s maiden voyage plunged to their deaths–for another reason

On April 13-15, the two groups will sponsor “Titanic 100: An International Centennial Event” in Branson, Missouri. The event will highlight the heroics shown by the men and boys of the ship who let women and children get off first.

And set the record straight.

“Regrettably, popular books and films such as James Cameron’s box-office smash have portrayed a false image of Marxist class-warfare as Titanic foundered, with the rich seeking to bribe their way to freedom, the poor deliberately prevented from reaching safety, and the nobility of Christian sacrifice minimized and ridiculed,” said Doug Phillips, president of Vision Forum and founder of the Christian Boy’s and Men’s Titanic Society. “Such depictions are historical nonsense.”

The purpose of “Titanic 100″ is to celebrate “the true legacy of the men of Titanic who gave their lives for women and children,” Phillips said.

The Titanic 100 will give the entire family an opportunity to experience what life on the Titanic was like.

“Next to Noah’s Ark, no other seagoing vessel has captured the imagination of so many,” organziers said. “Certainly no event in history has done more to remind Western culture of the Christian doctrine of “women and children first.”

There will be live plays and musical performances at the Lawrence Welk Theatre, exclusive tours of the largest Titanic attraction in the world and a reenactment of life on the Titanic among other activities.

“The Titanic 100 will be a joyous, uplifting family event,” Phillips said. “Every element of the celebration is designed to inspire families to remember the heroism of the past and to embrace a fundamental principle of Christian civilization — that women and children are to be honored and protected.”
