WASHINGTON, D.C. (WordNews.org) July 25, 2012 – Liberty Counsel Action delivered nearly 60,000 petitions today to Senate and House leaders urging them to repeal Obamacare.
Liberty Counsel Action, citing figures from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation that the insurance provisions of Obamacare will cost American
taxpayers $1,168 billion from 2012–2022.
“Obamacare expands government control over health care, imposes 21 new taxes, adds trillions
of dollars to our debt, drives up healthcare costs, and puts health care decisions in the hands of
bureaucrats instead of doctors and patients,” said Mat Staver, chairman of Liberty Counsel Action. “Additionally, Obamacare is the largest funding of abortion in history.”
The House voted to repeal the health care overhaul and Staver’s group is asking the Senate to do the same.
Last month, the Supreme Court upheld the health care law.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has filed an amendment that would repeal
Obamacare. McConnell’s amendment to the Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Act (S. 2237)
essentially matches the legislation passed by the House.
