Guard at Family Research Council shot by gunman

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WordNews.org) Aug. 15, 2012 — A gunman critical of Family Research Council’s conservative values walked into the Christian group’s headquarters today and shot a security guard.

The Washington Post is reporting the suspect is identified as Floyd Lee Corkins, 28. The paper reported the gunman was in FBI custody tonight.

The guard,who was shot in the arm, was identified as Leo Johnson.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins issued a brief statement:

“The police are investigating this incident. Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family.”
