GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WordNews.org) Sept. 7, 2012 – Christian Endeavor International is launching an initiative called Pray31 aimed at enlisting 1 million people to prayer in America.
Pray31 will take place during the month of October 2012 in churches and Christian groups nationwide. Organizers said for 31 days, thousands of congregations across the denominational spectrum will be engaged in this highly focused prayer effort.
“Our nation needs so much at this time, but there’s nothing we need more than prayer,” said CEI President Tim Eldred.” The solutions we seek are spiritual, not political; and Pray31 is a response to the overwhelming weight of the issues facing America. We must call out to God in prayer because only with his empowerment and blessing can we meet these challenges successfully.”
This is the latest prayer initiative that emphasizes solutions to the country’s problems are not political but spiritual.

Participants agree to spend a few minutes each day praying for items on the daily lists in the U.S. Prayer Atlas. The Atlas is a booklet that guides the user on a one-month journey of prayer. It is called an atlas because it covers via specific prayer requests all 50 states and all U.S. territories. The U.S. Prayer Atlas also includes a wealth of other features.
Organizers aid Pray31 was inspired by Pray21, a youth-oriented prayer initiative that originated with Christian Endeavor International — the very first organization in America dedicated to training youth for ministry and mission. Since 1881, the lives of millions of teens have been spiritually shaped through the influence of the Christian Endeavor movement. Today, the ministry continues to expand internationally and is now experiencing a great resurgence in the United States.
