IRAN (WordNews.org) Sept. 8, 2012 – Pastor Youcef Nadarkani, who faced a death sentence just months ago, has been released from prison following a court appearance this morning, according to the American Center for Law and Justice.
Nadarkhani received a death sentence in February for converting to Christianity, leading to an international outcry for his immediate release.
Nadarkhani was acquitted of his apostasy charge, ACLJ said. ACLJ had launched a petition drive in support of Nadarkhani.

ACLJ said Pastor Youcef had been summoned to appear before the court on the apostasy charges. The hearing lasted nearly six hours before he was released and able to return home to his family.
ACLJ sources said the court acquitted him of apostasy, but charged and convicted him of evangelizing to Muslims. Sources said  the court sentenced Pastor Youcef to three years in prison and granted him time served.
